Andy is a children’s writer who specialises in combining non-fiction and humour, a winning mix which appeals to even the most reluctant of young readers. In 2015 Andy won the Blue Peter Book Award for The Silly Book of Side-Splitting Stuff (Bloomsbury) and was shortlisting for the following year for The Silly Book of Weird and Wacky Words. He’s very excited to have a badge after longing for one as a kid!

Andy lived for many years in North Yorkshire where he wrote a bestselling trilogy of memoirs about his days working in a village school in the 1980s beginning with All Teachers Great and Small. He has recently moved to the South West to be nearer family and is very excited to explore this beautiful part of the country.

Andy specialises in getting children excited about books through his inspirational author visits to schools and he travels the world as well as the UK promoting reading for pleasure through fun interactive events. He works with KS1 through to KS3 and loves nothing more than engaging young people and getting them inspired to read and to write. More details about Andy’s author visits can be found at his website www.andyseed.com, along with contact details.

Andy runs a vlog for schools and parents called Hatman Reads where he recommends good books for 7-11s in a monthly 10-min video. He also regularly appears at festivals across the UK and further afield and has recently done events at Hay, Edinburgh and Bath Children’s Festival among others.
